Mirror exercise 12

mini stage? a possible way to create a puddle situation when amante picks up a coin...

Mirror exercise 11

iPhone, laptop, anyway, to get an image up there.

Mirror exercise 10

Here Shannon is slowly moving forward as the mirror tilts downward. The only clue that the image is moving is the changing landscape on the ceiling.

Mirror Exercise 9

Here we are playing with the actor looking a little bit off. You think they are sitting upright but there is something different about their body language. Here we are lying on the floor. The first exercise is with my lying on a mirror and if the mirror was bigger perhaps you wouldn't know that I was lying on the floor, but the camera compresses the image nicely with the body and the cieling. The second video Shannon is holding herself up in a yoga situp and she slowly lowers herself down. This effect is a bit akin to when you film someone walking backwards and you play it forwards.

Mirror exercise 8

Dolly shot with the mirror moving, not the camera.

Mirror exercise 7

This exercise had several layers to it. One playing with the body being still and thinking perhaps it is a photograph and then the body moving and realizing this is real time. Also not knowing that it is a mirror and how to naturally bring attention to that. We were joking that a Cuban stage hand could come on and interrupt the performance to clean the mirror.

Mirror exercise 6

Shannon and I were playing a lot with how do you layer images and create an unexpected sequence where the perspective is constantly changing. This is nice because it also contrasts scale with the large hand but distant background.

Mirror exercise 5

This is an interesting way to deal with scale and holding a live body in an image.

Mirror exercise 4

This also plays with changing the landscape with mirror movement, revealing and obscuring.

Mirror exercise 3

A mirror can transition on and reveal the interrogator and then wipe off and reveal a background. The mirror can wipe on a second time, and when it wipes off, it can reveal a different background. The audience would see the background changing and but see its reveal through the projected image.

Mirror exercise 2

The mirror reflects one world that is totally different than the world of the person holding the mirror.
